A pocket of white sand tucked in a corner of Pagbilao Grande Island, Puting Buhangin is one of the beaches that have been gaining popularity in the past few years. Despite being concealed behind Pagbilao Power Station, it continues to retain a very natural and pristine atmosphere. (Just don’t mind the power plant’s giant chimney sticking from a lush foliage out to the air).
Puting Buhangin is a very short strip that you could walk from end to end in a couple of minutes so it can get crowded during peak season.
Material/Type: Sand and pebbles
Nearest airport: Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport – NAIA)
How to get there: Board the bus to Lucena Grand Terminal (P250-P260, 3.5 hours) and another bus to Unisan (P35-40, 45-75 minutes). Get off at QCRB Bank in Padre Burgos and take a trike to Aplaya (15 minutes). You’ll find boats for rent here.
Where to stay: Camping is the most convenient option. If you have your own tent, you will have to pay only the camping fee. There are tent rentals too.
- Entrance Fee: P80
- Tent rental: P300-400
If you don’t wish to camp, you may opt to stay at a resort elsewhere. Here are some for your consideration:
- Silangang Nayon Restaurant and Resort – Pagbilao. (042 716 0077, 0922 886 7677.
- Tamarind Tree Resort – Padre Burgos. From P550 to P1250 per night. Email them at thetamarind3@gmail.com
- Villa Anita Resort. Fan rooms from P800/night. 8-bed dorm from P4000. Contact 0921 524 0110, (042) 716 0326.
Don’t miss: Kuwebang Lampas. A small cave at the end of Puting Buhangin, so called because you could swim right through it.
If you have more time: See the other beaches of Pagbilao and Padre Burgos. Borawan Island is much more crowded but you might want to make a brief stop here. Dampalitan Island is also a favorite among campers.
hi! i read that you can also reach puting buhangin by land? oh and i’ve also read some articles saying that the owner of the beach doesn’t allow camping anymore? or is that policy already removed? 😀
