If you’re looking for a beautiful beach near Puerto Princesa City, Nagtabon is the place to go to. It is less than an hour away from the city center, making it the ideal destination for those who don’t want to travel far to soak up some sun, sand, and beach time. It has white sand, an idyllic atmosphere, swaying coconut trees, and cool waters for swimming and skimboarding among other activities.

How to Get There
Nearest Airport: Puerto Princesa International Airport (Palawan)
By Air
- There are direct and regular flights from Manila to Puerto Princesa City operated by Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines. Wait for discounted fares by both airlines to get the cheapest possible price for your trip.
- Once in Puerto Princesa City, you can get to the beach by public transportation; board a bus bound for El Nido, Sabang or Roxas, and then alight at Bacungan; fare is approximately P30.
- From Bacungan take a tricycle to the road that leads to Nagtabon, the fare is around P60. You can walk to Nagtabon Beach from the main road.
Alternatively, you can charter a tricycle to take you to the road that leads to the beach for P500, round trip.
By Sea
- If you didn’t get discounted tickets, you can travel by ferry to Puerto Princesa. 2Go plies the Manila to Puerto Princesa route on Fridays. The super value class ticket costs P1480 including tax, one way.
- Once in Puerto Princesa City, you can get to the beach by public transportation; board a bus bound for El Nido, Sabang or Roxas, and then alight at Bacungan; fare is approximately P30.

Entrance Fee and Other Charges
- Entrance Fee: As of writing, it’s P10.
- Camping Fee: Pitching a tent is not yet a thing at Nagtabon as there are a good number of cottages lining the beach. It’s better to ask permission first before you set up your tent.
- Cottage Rental Fee: Starts at P200.
- Motorcycle Rental: Ranges from P500 – P700 (good for one whole day)
Don’t Miss
- Nagtabon Beach is around an hour away from the city, making it the ideal beach destination for those who don’t want to travel too far. It has a white sand beach and cerulean waters, and a beautiful beachscape for relaxing and unwinding.
- You can do a handful of activities during your stay such as surfing and skimboarding during the right season, swimming, and beach bumming.
- The beach is also a good place to watch the sunset.
Don’t Forget
- Withdraw the cash you need in Puerto Princesa City before going to the beach.
- The shore is big enough for playing Frisbee and beach volleyball.
- Bring your own skimboard and/or surfboard; during the right season, the waves are strong enough for both activities.
- Bring your own snacks and drinks if you want to have a picnic on the beach, but always leave no trace behind.
- Be extra careful during the Amihan season when the waves are too strong. A lot of drowning incidents had happened here during those months (October to February).
If You Have More Time and Budget
- After exploring and doing activities in Nagtabon, go on a day tour to the Underground River, do a city tour, and/or book a trip for island hopping in Honda Bay.
- If you have a few more days to spare, travel to one of the beautiful destinations in Palawan — El Nido.
