Iloilo is a province that has plenty to offer tourists in terms of natural, historical, or cultural attractions. You’ll easily fill your itinerary even if you’re only staying for a few days.
Like many other provinces in the region, Iloilo has beautiful beaches and islands you can visit as a day trip from its districts. One of the most famous destinations is the Islas de Gigantes. Located in Carles (northern part of Iloilo), this group of islands has stunning white sand shores and cerulean waters. The places often included in itineraries are Cabugao Gamay, Tangke Lagoon, and Antonia Beach. Tangke Lagoon has emerald waters surrounded by rock formations. Cabugao Gamay is probably the most famous attraction in the group; its photo is most likely the one you’ll see when you search for Gigantes.
If you can’t get enough of the beach, Concepcion Islands is another place to add to your itinerary. Some of the noteworthy destinations when you visit include the sandbar (Bulubadiangan), Malangabang, and Pan de Acuzar, just to name a few.
Iloilo’s proximity to Guimaras also makes it the first stop for tourists visiting the latter. One of the towns in Guimaras is only a short boat ride away. You can visit some of the attractions in Guimaras as a day trip from Iloilo if you start early enough.
The province also has a number of historical and cultural attractions that provide visitors with a glimpse of its storied past. The city has heritage sites that mingle with malls, restaurants, and new houses. The buildings along Calle Real and Plaza Libertad will take you back in time. You can also find remnants of Spanish times when you see the centuries-old churches in nearby Molo and Jaro.
If you’re looking for a comfortable resort to stay in Iloilo, you’ll have several options. Your choice will depend on what you’re looking for (beach, culture, and/or history). Here are the highly recommended resorts in Iloilo by Agoda users, in no particular order.
