Day Tour vs Overnight Stay
Choosing between day tour or overnight totally depends on your schedule and budget. Of course, one upside of staying overnight is you’ll have more time to enjoy the resort and its amenities along with the beach. But if your time is limited, going on a day tour is enough to have a quick beach escape. In this case, it’s best to leave early to make the most of your day tour experience in the resort.
REMINDER! Whether you’re planning to go on a day tour or booking a room to stay overnight, advanced reservation is required. The resort implements a no walk-in policy.

Things to Do
Acua Adventure Park
Both day tour and overnight guests can enjoy Canyon Cove’s inflatable playground which they call Acua Adventure Park for an additional fee. This is open for kids and kids at heart! If you decide to go on the inflatable, keep in mind that you must keep your life jacket on at all times. Make sure to listen to lifeguards for instructions too. As always, safety first!
Water Sports
Multiple water activities are also available at the resort. Among the water sports you can do here are kayak, paddle board, jetski, banana boat, and UFO. The last two are especially fun if you’re traveling with a group. They even have a flyboard if you want to experience flying above water!
They also offer these water activities for big groups since Canyon Cove also accepts bookings for corporate team buildings. If you’re traveling with friends, you can split the cost so it comes out cheaper per person.
Swimming
If you’re not a fan of water activities or you’d much rather have a more chill time, dipping into the water is the way to go. Canyon Cove has an exclusive beach that would not disappoint beach lovers. The water is calm and shallow so it’s great even for non-swimmers. However, still be mindful and wear protective footwear if you can. Our teammate Asta accidentally stepped on a sea urchin while we were swimming on the beach. Luckily, they have lifeguards who know what to do and she was given first aid right away.
But if you’re traveling with kids and they prefer swimming in a pool, they have it too! The swimming pool is huge and has varying depths, so there are areas dedicated for kids. Also, on our last visit, it didn’t feel crowded even though there were a lot of people swimming.
Keep in mind that there’s a schedule for both the swimming pool and swimming at the beach.
Swimming Hours
- Swimming Pool: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Beach: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunset Watching
If you love sunsets like us, you’ll enjoy staying at the beach during sundown. They have a beautiful view of the sunset especially when the sky is clear. Unfortunately for us, it was a bit cloudy during our visit, but it was still a nice view nonetheless.
Poolside Bar
Refreshments are a must when swimming especially if it’s a hot day. At Canyon Cove, drinks are within reach at their Poolside Bar — Covey’s Shack. If you’re in need of a cold drink while lounging by the pool or beach, you can order yourself a smoothie, soda, juice, or mocktail. They also serve different types of alcoholic beverages like beer and cocktails. Non-alcoholic beverages are priced between P150 and P225, while alcoholic drinks ranges from P150 to P400.
Spa and Relaxation
Canyon Cove also offers massage services provided by Anima Renovation Spa. They have different types of massage that guests can avail at the comfort of their own hotel room. Where to Eat
There are in-house restaurants and food kiosks within Canyon Cove Resort so you’ll have a few options during your visit. But if you’re looking for more options, you can go outside the resort and go to the town center. You can easily do this if you’re staying overnight and you have your own car. Although it is also possible to ask the staff to call a tricycle for you.
Canyon Cove Restaurants
During our stay in Canyon Cove, we weren’t able to explore their dining options except for having their buffet breakfast at Island Cafe. They also have a bar located right by the pool called Covey’s Shack, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including smoothies.
According to their website, they have a few dining options inside the resort. Aside from Island Cafe, they also have food kiosks serving Korean and Japanese food items. Another dining option is Dampa, offering grilled food which just always makes sense for a beach outing. For those looking for chips and other light snacks, you can also check out the onsite mini-mart.
El Cocinero by Chef Arnaldo
One of the restaurants we dined at in Nasugbu was El Cocinero by Chef Arnaldo. They offer a mostly Spanish menu along with pizza, pasta, and some Filipino favorites. We ordered their signature El Cocinero Paella, Paella Mixta, and El Cocinero Pizza. The El Cocinero Paella is topped with mushrooms, shrimp, mussels, squid, and chorizo while the Paella Mixta has shrimp, mussels, and chicken. Aside from the food, we also liked the bright and homey ambiance of the restaurant.
L’Bulalo
We also had dinner at L’Bulalo where we tried their bulalo, of course! They also serve other Filipino dishes and all day breakfast. Another thing on their menu are seafood platters, which we also tried. We ordered their cajun seafood which has a mix of crabs, shrimps, mussels, and corn.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit?
Nasugbu is one of the most popular beach destinations near Manila. Generally, the best time is between November to May since these are the dry months. However, if you want to avoid the crowd, try to schedule your trip outside of March to May since these months are considered the summer season. If you can, try to avoid going on weekends and holidays too since more people usually go on trips around these days as well.
Can I bring outside food?
NO. Whether you’re a day tour guest or staying overnight, Canyon Cove does not allow bringing of outside food.
How’s the water pressure in the bathroom?
Based on our experience, the water pressure in the rooms we stayed in was good. However, our teammates experienced a different issue in their room’s bathroom. They complained about foul odor in the bathroom as soon as they checked in and they also saw bugs during their stay. These issues were raised to the staff but were, sadly, not addressed. On the other hand, the room assigned to us had no issues, and we had a pleasant stay.
Is there a shower room for day tour guests?
YES! Day pass also gives you access to their shower area which also serves as the changing room.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, NO. Canyon Cove does not allow pets within the resort.
Is there an ATM?
YES. There’s a BDO ATM at the lobby near the entrance and the front desk area.
Tips and Reminders
- Leave Manila early. Being a few hours away from Manila, you’d want to leave as early as possible to get to Canyon Cove to avoid the heavy traffic. This is especially important if you’re commuting or going for a day tour. Keep in mind that day tour starts at 7:00 AM so if you can be there by then, you’ll have more time to spend at the resort.
- Wear protective footwear when swimming at the beach. Although the shore has fine sand, you still need to be careful when in the water. During our visit, there was a lot of seaweed so it’s hard to see anything underwater. Our teammate, Asta, accidentally stepped on a sea urchin. But thankfully, their lifeguards were knowledgeable on what to do for this situation. After telling a lifeguard what happened, she was told where to go and they soaked the affected area in vinegar to make the spikes come out and/or melt.
- Use sun protection. Don’t forget to pack your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen to keep you protected from the sun. We highly recommend getting a reef-friendly sunscreen. Choose brands that doesn’t contain chemicals like oxybenzone, benzophenone, and parabens.
- Stay hydrated. Bring your favorite water bottle and remember to keep yourself hydrated during your trip. This is especially important when you’re staying under the heat of the sun!
- Go early for breakfast. If you’re staying overnight and you’re availing of their breakfast buffet, it’s best to come early especially if your stay falls on a weekend! We arrived there at around 6:30 AM and the restaurant was already full so we had to wait for a bit before we were seated. Our teammates got there later than us at around 7:30 and they had to wait even longer because there was already a queue.
- Practice the “Leave No Trace” principle. Remember, take nothing but photos, kill nothing but time, leave nothing but footprints.
